    What do you get when you splash 5000 years of Chinese culture and music with the symphonic mastery of the Western world? The Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra
    Translating to “The beauty of divine beings dancing”, this event is an effort to revive an under-appreciated form of classical music. On October 16th, the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra will take the stage at Roy Thomson Hall, performing all original compositions that are born out the culture and legends of the far east.

    Arranged marriage is the subject of a very unique and wildly popular production running through October 10th at Soulpepper Theatre. The Distillery district’s Young Centre is playing host to Ravi and Asha Jain, a mother and son duo that are the stars of this show.

    Morrice & Lyman in the Company of Matisse

    The McMichael Gallery in Kleinberg, Ontario will open a new exhibit titled “Morrice and Lyman in the Company of Matisse” on October 10th. This is a lush and colourful presentation that will look at two pioneers of Canadian modern art, and the wonderful settings they worked in. Get ready to venture to Quebec, Paris, Venice, Tangiers, and even the Caribbean – all with a turn of the century and 1920s aesthetic.

    Aimia/AGO Photography Prize

    The Aimia/AGO Photography Prize is a $50,000 prize that four finalists are competing for, and one of them is Canadian. It is one of the most exciting and interactive prizes being handed out in this country.
