The Group of Seven Guitar Project with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection

Dates: On now until October 29th
    Venue: McMichael Canadian Art Collection

    7 renowned guitar-makers, inspired by 7 iconic artists, crafted 7 one-of-a-kind guitars.

A group of seven world-renowned Canadian guitar makers, also known as luthiers, inspired by the Group of Seven–the famous painters who changed the way Canadians saw their country–built extraordinary instruments demonstrating the depth of artistry that exists in Canada. Each luthier created a guitar inspired by one of the original members of the Group of Seven, and worked collaboratively on an eighth guitar to celebrate Tom Thomson.

    Coming up next:
Enjoy an Acoustic Conversation with Tony Duggan-Smith featuring the Arthur Lismer Guitar and a performance by Kevin Breit on October 29th.

Running the length of one of the McMichael’s most iconic spaces, the guitars are exhibited in the round, allowing visitors to explore the various landscapes in wood and inlay decorating the musical instruments on all sides.
