    Where Are They Now?

    Lydia Persaud

    This week’s featured artist is vocalist Lydia Persaud, who participated in Jazzology in 2013.

    A native of Toronto, Persaud graduated from the music program at Humber College, where she performed in the Studio Jazz Ensemble and was chosen as the first female recipient of the Oscar Peterson Award in 2012.

    Abigail Neale

    This week we feature saxophonist Abigail Neale, who was a member of the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band in 2010 – 2011.

    A Toronto native, Neale is a saxophonist, clarinetist, flautist, composer, and arranger who is currently completing the final year of her Bachelor of Music degree at Humber College. She has received a number of awards including the St. John’s Music Award, the Moe Koffman Universal Music Award, and the Dave Stillwell Arranging Award.

    Mark Segger

    This week’s featured artist is drummer Mark Segger, who participated in Jazzology in 2008.

    A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Mark attended MacEwan University there before moving to Anigonish, Nova Scotia to complete his Bachelor of Music degree at St. Francis Xavier University. Following that, he completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Toronto and also attended the Vancouver Creative Music Institute in 2008, the Banff International Jazz Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music in 2009, and the School for Improvised Music in Brooklyn, New York in 2010.

    Jon Foster

    This week we feature drummer Jon Foster, who participated in our Jazzology program in 2012.

    After having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in 2012 and a Masters in Music Performance from the University of Toronto in 2014, Jon has begun an active career on the Canadian music scene as a performing and recording artist.

    Matt Lagan

    This week’s featured artist is saxophonist Matt Lagan, who was a member of the Youth Big Band from 2011 to 2013.

    Born and raised in Toronto, Matt started his musical education by studying jazz and classical piano with his parents before starting saxophone at the age of thirteen. In addition to being a member of the Youth Big Band during high school, Matt also took part in the Community Music School and Summer Jazz Workshop at Humber College.
