    Stars of Canadian Jazz

Stars of Canadian Jazz is a brand new jazz appreciation course, designed for jazz lovers who want to dive deeper into the music.

Continuing where last year’s popular Canadian Jazz Legends course left off, Stars of Canadian Jazz will explore the lives, music and legacies of five of Canada’s most accomplished and influential jazz greats. Unlike many of the previous JAZZ.FM91 jazz appreciation courses which have been structured as historical surveys, each class of Maynard, Peter, Diana, Christine and Ingrid will go deep into the worlds of specific jazz figures. Students will walk away with a rich understanding of these incredible musicians and their unique contributions to Canadian jazz.

We’re also proud to announce that instructor Jonathon Resney will be returning to the station to teach the course. Jonathon is a saxophonist and educator, who received his Masters in Jazz performance from McGill University. He has designed this completely new course in collaboration with JAZZ.FM 91 CEO, Ross Porter.

Taking place at JAZZ.FM91 in Liberty Village, this 4-session, evening course will meet for two hours weekly. JAZZ.FM91 donors are offered discounted fees.
